My Light Has Dimmed

To Danny and Machelle, in memory of Courtney

My light has dimmed, there's no doubt.
It is burning low, not completely out.
There are so many feelings I have inside.
They are the one's I just can't hide.
I lost a part of myself, you see.
Right now, happy, I just can't be.
God is mending my broken heart each day.
Please, just lift me up when you pray.
One day, I don't know just when,
I'll surely be able to smile again.
Until the Lord restores my heart anew,
Please understand is all I ask of you.

Courtney's Wildflowers

In dedication to the memory of
Courtney Green

Courtney loved wild flowers blooming in the fields near home.
Often she would wander to those fields, there to roam.
Running through the fragrance there
She'd listen to and talk to the Lord in prayer.
One day, He decided Courtney was a precious gem,
And called her to go and live with Him.
Our heart's were broken at what we'd all lost.
But, she is near, in our hearts embossed.
For God shows her beauty each time we see,
All the wildflowers growing for you and me.

    Thy Will Be Done

I'll lend you for a little time a child of mine, he said
For you to love while she lives and mourn when she is dead.
It may be six or seven years, or twenty or twenty three,
But will you 'til I call her back, take care of her for me?

She will bring her charms to gladden you, and should her stay be brief,
You'll have her lovely memories as solace for your grief.
I can't promise she will stay, since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there, I want this child to learn.

I've searched this wide world over, in my search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crown life's lanes, I have selected you.
Now will you give her all your love? Nor think your labor vain?
Nor hate me when I come to take her back again?

I fancied that I heard them say, "Dear Lord, thy will be done,
For all the joy thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter her with tenderness, we'll love her while we may

But should the Angels call for her much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand.

Dear Child in Heaven

You were a blessing to us all,
You were a special child,
And we're so glad God sent you
To be with us for awhile.

You filled our home with happiness,
And made our life complete.
The time we had with you
Was far too short, but oh so sweet.

Some things we don't find easy
To accept or understand,
Till we realize they're part of
Our Creator's perfect plan.

Now it comforts us to know
You're with the angels up above,
While in our hearts we hold you close,
Surrounded always by our love.

Thomas (Tommy) Michael Loges

His eyes, so innocent,
His mind, so fresh,
His heart, so worthy,
So fair was his flesh.
His virgin body, and tiny hands,
His delicate lips, on which his smile stands.
His rosy cheeks, and long blond tail,
His pattering feet and bones so frail.
His soul that lives on,
His soul that is free,
Heaven is waiting and he has the key.
His wandering fingers and wiggling toes,
Will no longer move, until upstairs he goes.
A place where he's safe,
A place where he's free,
A permanent home to which he has the key.
Not everyone goes there, just those of good heart.
Those who just finish, and those who just start.

Don't grieve for me because I'm gone, I'm not that far away.
I may not be right next to you, but I'm in your heart to stay.
The illness that took me left my spirit near.
Close your eyes and feel my presence here.
My pain is over, I'm finally at rest,
Remember God only takes the very best!

This poem was given to me when my son Nicholas died,
I read it everyday and it gives great comfort.
